By the Spirit!

Scripture reading for October 9th:  Zechariah 3-7

Key Scriptures:  Zechariah 4:6-7  “So he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty.  What are you, O mighty mountain?  Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground.  Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of ‘God bless it! God Bless it!””

Zerubbabel was the governor who was in charge of the rebuilding in Jerusalem.  The difficulties and resistance was like a mighty mountain that could not be moved with human strength.  But God promised supernatural help by the Spirit!  What man could not move, God’s Spirit would accomplish as His people walked in dependence on Him and not their own strength, money or ability.

Empowered by the Spirit:  “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”  (Acts 1:8)
