Grace and wisdom to live righteously!

Scripture reading for November 8th:  1st Peter 2, Psalm 75-6, Proverbs 8

Key Scriptures:  1st Peter 2:20-24  “For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure?  But if you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God.  For to this you have  been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in His steps.  He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in His mouth.  When He was reviled, he did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but continued entrusting Himself to Him who judges justly.  He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness.”

Peter commended those who were suffering for their good deeds and because of their identification with Jesus Christ.  He said that their endurance was graciously noted by God.  Why?  Because suffering believers are following Christ’s example.  He never suffered because He sinned, but because He was righteous and was identifying with us.  In Him we have the power of sin broken and ability to live and even suffer in righteousness.  His grace through the cross sets us free.

Faith Confession:  I embrace the example of Jesus Christ for the grace to suffer for doing His will and wisdom to live for righteously.

Proverbs 8:10-11 “Take My instruction instead of silver and knowledge rather than choice gold, for wisdom is better than jewels, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.”
