Scripture reading for April 10th: John 4, Psalm 72, Proverbs 10
Key Scriptures: John 4:34-38 “Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work. Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. Already the one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that sower and reaper may rejoice together. For here the saying holds true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you did not labor. Others have labored and you have entered into their labor.”
Jesus had shared with a Samaritan woman that He was the Messiah. She was so excited that she ran into her village and told others about Jesus, inviting them to come meet Him. This was the ‘work’ that the Father had sent Jesus to do. He instructed His disciples as the people of the village were streaming to meet Him, “See that the fields are white for harvest.” Some sow, others reap, but rejoice that fruit is being gathered for eternal life!
Faith Confession: Lord, I see the fields ripe for harvest! Thank You for allowing me to participate in the sowing and reaping of this ‘fruit’ for eternal life. (Action Step: Share the Gospel with someone you know who may be lost but is open to listen.)
Psalm 72:16 “May there be abundance of grain in the land; on the tops of the mountains may it wave; may its fruit be like Lebanon; and may people blossom in the cities like the grass of the field.”
