Tag: Jeremiah 33:16-17
Scripture reading for November 1st: Jeremiah 30-33, James 2
Key Scriptures: James 2:20-24 “Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works; and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”–and he was called a friend of God. You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone.”
James stressed that true faith was demonstrated by corresponding works. If anyone truly believes God and trusts His Word, that person must act on what God has said. Abraham was told to offer his son to God and he obeyed, demonstrating that his faith was authentic. Faith that shows no corresponding actions is dead.
Jeremiah 33:16-17 “Thus says the Lord: “Keep your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears, for there is a reward for your work, declares the Lord, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy. There is hope for your future, declares the Lord, and your children shall come back to their own country.””
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to live by faith today and do the works that You have laid out for me. I believe You for the salvation of my children and grandchildren and those to come! Amen.
