Tag: God cares
Scripture reading for November 13th: Ezekiel 2-5, 1st Peter 5
Key Scriptures: 1st Peter 5:6-9 “Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world.”
Living in faith requires humility. We who believe must entrust all of our lives to God–the good and the trials of suffering. We must stay alert to the tricks of the enemy of our souls and resist the fear he tries to stir up. God cares for you and has promised to exalt you at the proper time. Cast those cares and resist the devil and his roars!
Ezekiel 2:6 “And you, son of man, be not afraid of them, nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you sit on scorpions.”
Prayer: Lord, thank You for caring for me and the promise of eternal life with You. Help me to cast all my cares and worries on You today. Amen.
Scripture reading for October 13th: Matthew 3-7
Key Scriptures: Matthew 6:25-27 “”Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?””
Jesus Christ taught the crowds that followed Him and His own disciples about the Father and His loving care for them. He pointed to the birds and how they are cared for. They don’t worry or fear for their next meal. God provides for the many creatures He has made. And man, made in God’s own image is much more valuable than the birds. We can depend on God’s care for our basic needs and obey His command to seek His kingdom and righteousness first of all.
Rejoicing in Father’s Care: “Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp. He covers the sky with clouds; He supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.” (Psalm 147:7-9)
Scripture reading for June 13th: Psalm 52-56
Key Scriptures: Psalm 55:22-23 “Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall. But You, O God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of corruption; bloodthirsty and deceitful men will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in You.”
The psalmist David was surrounded by jealous enemies and even friends that sought to betray him. He learned to depend on God to sustain him by crying out to God at all times of the day. He cast all his cares on the Lord and depended on Him for protection and ultimate vindication. David knew that God promised to uphold the righteous and punish the wicked eternally.
Thankful for God’s sustaining grace: “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (1st Peter 5:6-7)
Scripture reading for March 24th: 2nd Samuel 2-6
Key Scriptures: 2nd Samuel 5:18-20 “Now the Philistines had come and spread out in the Valley of Rephaim; so David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will You hand them over to me?” The Lord answered him, “Go, for I will surely hand the Philistines over to you.” So David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, “As waters break out, the Lord has broken out against my enemies before me.”
After being anointed as Israel’s king, David came under attack from the Philistines. He inquired of the Lord for directions and help and God answered faithfully! David gave God the credit for their defeat!
Rejoicing in the Lord: We can rejoice in the Lord and be anxious about nothing! God hears and answers! “Humble yourselves under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all you anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” (1st Peter 5:6-7)
