Scripture reading for August 7th: Psalm 76-78, 2nd Corinthians 8
Key Scriptures: Psalm 78:4-7 “We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and His might, and the wonders that He has done. He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers to teach to their children, that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children, so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God but keep His commandments.”
Sharing the Word of God and the history of God’s glorious deeds of salvation must be done to each generation. It is like a relay race where the baton is passed to the next runner and again to the next until the race is completed. It is easy to forget God. Knowledge of God can quickly be dropped by failure to obey God and pass it on. Each generation must take the baton and excel in passing it on.
2nd Corinthians 8:7 “But as you excel in everything–in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness, and in our love for you–see that you excel in this act of grace also.”
Prayer: Lord, I want the next generations to know the grace, love, and mighty deeds of our Lord Jesus. Help me to excel in sharing with and reaching the next generation. Amen.
