Thankful for a humble heart!
Scripture reading for April 13th: 2nd Kings 21-24
Key Scriptures: 2nd Kings 22:17-19 “Because they have forsaken Me and burned incense to other gods and provoked Me to anger by all the idols their hands have made, My anger will burn against this place and will not be quenched. Tell the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the Lord, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says concerning the words you heard: Because your heart was responsive and you humbled yourself before the Lord when you heard what I have spoken against this place and its people. . .I have heard you,” declares the Lord.”
Josiah was very young when he became king. He sought to do what was right in God’s eyes and inquired of Him for direction. God revealed His plan of discipline for Judah because of the idolatry in the land. But because of Josiah’s tender heart and responsiveness, Josiah would not see the judgment.
Thankful for God’s Mercy: God gives grace to the humble who honor Him and tremble at His Word! “But He gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” . . .Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.” (James 4:6, 10)
